To get some practice with lighting, I attempted to get some shots of my frozen pizza yesterday evening. They came out horribly. It was dumb how distressed I got about them. The short story is that I was too tired to shoot when I started, and simply didn’t put in the brain power to fix it. Today, with day-old frozen pizza, I think I got at least a decent shot (above) – certainly not something I’d put in my portfolio or sell to a client, but I needed to redeem myself today in my own head.
It’s not any different than when I’d have to work on computer issues for long hours (or, probably, most things): when you’re too tired, stop. Just stop. Hopefully you can.
I am planning to take shots of 2-5 plates while I have the lens I rented during the next couple of days. The goal is to determine if I want to buy this lens and/or keep one of the lenses I already own. Then, build a portfolio, redesign this website, get a printed portfolio done and start hitting the streets.
I hope everyone is well this new year – thanks for reading!
